Date Night (for some)

October 9, 2008

We are part of a great small group through our church that meets every Thursday night. The format we have been using for several years has worked well because most of us have school-aged children (or younger) but still want the opportunity to have some meaningful adult learning time as well.

On three Thursdays out of the month we've been doing a bible study at one (quiet) house while the kids are with a babysitter at a nearby (noisy) home. We recently started The Truth Project and are really enjoying it!

One Thursday of each month is "date night" when a family takes a turn watching everyone else's kids while those couples can go on dates for a few hours. We do this on a rotation basis so it's about once every five months or so that we end up watching the kids for date night. I can't tell you how great it is to be able to count on one night each month to have free babysitting for a few hours!

So this month was our turn to watch the kids for date night. The kids had some free time to play whatever they wanted. Since fall is upon us, I printed some fun coloring sheets for the kids to decorate...they really did a great job their artwork.

Afterwards, it was time for brownies and once everything was cleaned up (see? I've learned my lesson on this one!) they got to watch Charlotte's Web until their parents came to pick them up.

Everyone had a good time and we get to look forward to going on dates again for the next four months.
