Today we celebrated Erica's 6th birthday with a horse-themed party in our backyard. Her actual birthday is tomorrow but it worked better to do the party today.
I found these great cowboy hats at Dollar Tree and couldn't resist getting them for each of the kids. Super cute! We served hot dogs, watermelon and chips for dinner and the kids all sat on beach towels
We put up our jumper in the backyard, it's been a great investment since we purchased it several years ago and pull it out for special occasions.
Erica wanted to invite all 18 of her kindergarten classmates from this past school-year, they have been such a great group of kids and with it being Labor Day weekend and all, I assumed only about half of them would likely be able to attend. Much to our surprise, 13 of her classmates came to the party, plus we had two other friends come for a grand total of 15 kids here to celebrate Erica's birthday.
And they loved being goofy too!
Since it was a horse party, we had fun coming up with some fun games such as "stomp the fly" where they popped black balloons tied to each other's ankles and they played "musical towels" to some great giddy-up music.
A horse party wouldn't be complete without a horse cake! Thank goodness for the internet where I found a really easy pattern for making this cake.
Erica seemed to like it too!
Our sweet girl is growing up so quickly!
