This summer we decided to change things up a bit and instead of doing the ABC's of Summer like we did last year, we've decided to do the alphabet backwards, thus, the ZYX of Summer.

We officially started today with it being "Z" day. Rather than doing the obvious, we chose not to go to the zoo. Instead, we had Zip Zap races and made a delicious zucchini chocolate cake!

Zip Zaps are something we were introduced to by some friends in our small group. They are inexpensive little remote control cars that can be purchased at Radio Shack for about $12 (great gift idea and inexpensive too!)
We set up a small race area on the hardwood floor (they don't work so well on carpet) and we each took turns timing each other with a stop watch while attempting to navigate the Zip Zap through an obstacle course.
Later in the afternoon, we made zucchini chocolate cake which we enjoyed after dinner. I figured Evan would be more likely to try the zucchini cake if he had some involvement in making the cake....my theory worked! :-)
I'm glad we're getting the three hardest letters of the alphabet done first!
