Life has been busy with getting unpacked and "settled" into the summer vacation routine around here. Now that the 4th of July has come and gone, I figure I'd better get the rest of the pictures posted from our fabulous June vacation trip!
Following our campout with the cub scouts, we passed along our wet tent to some friends who were heading back home (yes, we woke to rain on Sunday morning) and we continued south to the northern Oregon coast to stay in Seaside and Cannon Beach, Oregon. We stayed in a motel (no risk of waking to wet sleeping bags) and loved spending time on the beach and being tourists!
Seaside, Oregon
Cannon Beach, Oregon
We also enjoyed learning about some of the history of Lewis & Clark's northwest expedition.
Following a fun two days in Seaside, it was time to continue south. We drove as far as Medford, Oregon. We have a favorite park that the kids love to play at the wooden playground, it's called Bear Creek Park.
After one night in Meford, it's back in the car to continue to Old Station, CA where Fred's parents live. We continued down I-5 toward Mt. Shasta and then turn left to head east for approx 90 miles. We made a stop for a picnic lunch at the beautiful Lower McLeod River Falls.
The kids have been looking forward to this trip for months and were so excited to see Granny and Grampa Stanley!
Granny is a very gifted musician and plays many different instruments, which the kids love! Fortunately, Granny is happy to play for an eager audience!
Viola de Gamba
Organ (not just any organ, but the variety you'd find in a church!)
Baby Grand Piano
Evan loved being about to lay under the piano to listen to Granny play!
The following day, we took a short day-trip to Butte Lake where Fred has camped with his family for many, many summers! The kids are always excited to see places that Fred has talked about for years.
