Several days ago we had invited my folks to come over for dinner tonight. Not realizing it at the time the invitation was made, we learned that today was Grandparents Day. Ok, it's not quite as popular as Mother's Day or Secretaries Day but my kids saw it on the calendar and decided to capitalize on the opportunity to make Grammy & GrampaPops (my parents) feel extra special today.
So the plan was for my folks to come here after they had returned from the Seahawks game. They came here for dinner unaware of the special day instore for them :-)
Erica worked hard on some custom placemats she made for Grammy & GrampaPops. She took two pieces of 11x14 cardstock and drew some sweet pictures of herself and Grammy or herself & GrampaPops on them. She was sure to include something about I ♥ grandparents or something like that. Then it was Erica's idea to laminate them so Grammy & GrampaPops can use them as placemats. So special.
Evan decided he wanted to set a beautiful table in the dining room. He asked if we could get out our best china and silverware (seldom used so why not get them out?), plus we pulled out the special white table cloth and cloth napkins too. He wanted a centerpiece so he went out and snipped some pink roses off the rose bush and arranged the flowers in a little vase to put in the center of the table. He was meticulous about setting the table just right and the placement of the silverware and folding of the cloth napkins. So dang cute!
Both grandparents loved the special attention and the kids were so proud of themselves. It was a very special evening and something we've decided to make an annual tradition.
