Erica's Baptism

February 15, 2009

Today Erica was baptized. We wanted to celebrate the day by giving Erica a special necklace, which she loves.

Her testimony was very simple and sweet, she had written it herself and even typed it all by herself on the computer several weeks ago. She talked about how she had asked Jesus into her heart in the summer of 2006 (yep, she was only 4 years old!) and that she has been learning about Jesus from her Mom, Dad and her teachers at school and Sunday school. Evan was honored to read the testimony at her baptism, he did a great job!

Up until last summer she had been hesitant about being baptized because she was not yet comfortable with having her head under water (we do full immersion baptisms at our church). Ever since she overcame the obstacle of going under water, she's been wanting to be baptized.

At times Erica is a little bashful but throughout this entire process of preparing for baptism she has been so confident. She is spiritually mature beyond her six years and she knew what she wanted to do and why she wanted to follow the act of obedience of being baptized like Jesus had.

Erica's favorite verse:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but will have eternal life." John 3:16
