Fred and I couldn't let our 10th wedding anniversary come and go without going away some place for just the two of us!
We found some great mid-week deals on round trip airfare and 2 nights hotel in Vegas. Despite some people's opinions, we really enjoy ourselves in Las Vegas! Since having gone to Vegas for our 4th & 5th anniversaries, we know the weather is typically great in October! It's somewhere we know we'll probably never take our kids so we can focus on spending time as a couple and have FUN!
This trip was no exception :-) We took a 6am flight down to Vegas and were at the hotel by 9am. Because it was mid-week, we had a room by 10am and we were ready to do the town! One of our first stops was The Bellagio Hotel to check out the awesome autumn display in The Conservatory. Check out the beautiful glass leaves suspended from the ceiling!
Later we headed down to "Old Downtown Las Vegas" to check out the sites. While down there, we found an incredible salad bar and build-your-own-pasta bar for only $5.99 each. The price was good and the meal was deeeeelish!
One of our favorite evening sites is the dancing waters at The Bellagio Hotel, we spent over one hour there watching all the performances. Simply spectacular!
Lady Luck wasn't shining on us at the blackjack tables so by the third day we decided to rent a car for the day and check out some sites around the Las Vegas area. We stopped at a great bagel shop across the street from UNLV. It was fun to watch college students and life beyond The Strip. Later we drove back down the strip and checked out the sites from the windows of our rental car.
We drove out to Hoover Dam since I had never been there before. It was amazing to think it had been constructed in the 1930's and I was surprised to see how large it is! There is currently construction going on to build a new bridge near the dam to by-pass people driving over the dam. This is a precautionary measure since 9/11 and not wanting some whacko to do any horrible thing to the dam.
Once we got back into Las Vegas, it was time to find In and Out Burger. We were on a quest to find a new antenna ornament for Fred's co-worker who loves In and Out.
We took one last drive down The Strip before having to head to the airport. Lucky for us, the dancing waters at The Bellagio was happening as we drove by....

A wonderful trip but it's always good to get back home to the kids.
